Analysis of MT. Oryx Trader & Anor V. Wrist Shipping Supply: The Fine Line Differentiation Between Caveat Against the Release of a Vessel from Arrest, and a Vessel’s Arrest

In a recent decision of the Supreme Court delivered on February 21, 2025 in MT. Oryx Trader & Anor v. Wrist Shipping Supply, the Supreme Court examined the concepts of vessel arrest and the caveat against the release of vessel vis-a-vis, particularly, the differentiating elements of both concepts, among others. In this article, we examine the decision of the court in this case, with particular emphasis on the reasoning and basis of the court’s decision.
